Mic started Aikido in Sydney Australia in 1979, with Saburo Takayusu.
After seeing Morihiro Saito during his first Australian Aikido seminar in 1983, Mic traveled to Iwama, Japan to study under Saito as an uchideshi (live in apprentice). He returned again in 1986, 1990, 1997, 2001 & 2002.
Mic was an instructor with the Takemusu Aiki Association in Australia, teaching at the North Sydney dojo from 1991 till 2000. In 2000 he founded the Aiki Shuren Dojo Sydney, and after the death of Morihiro Saito in 2002, joined the Iwama Shinshin Aiki Shuren Kai in order to continue to study and pass on the legacy left by Morihei Ueshiba (the founder of Aikido) through Morihiro Saito.
Mic continues his studies under Hitohira Saito Soke, both in Japan and at international seminars in order to further his own Aikido and that of his students.

Warwick started Goju Ryu Karate in 1973 with Paul Starling and studied for 10 years with a short foray into Aikido in 1983 for about 1 year under Saburo Takayasu (a student of Morihiro Saito). After a long period of concentrating on family and work commitments Warwick returned to Aikido again in 1999 under Mic Marelli.
Several trips to Japan for further studies and long term stays with Hitohira Saito in Iwama Japan.
Several trips to Japan to study Shinto Musu Ryu Jodo and attend Jodo Federation International Gashuku at Matsumoto under to guidance of Tsuneo Nishioka.
Warwick continues to study Aikido in Australia under Mic Marelli and in Japan under Hitohira Saito.
2ND DAN AIKIDO, IWAMA SHINSHIN AIKI SHUREN KAI
Stefan has always been interested in martial arts from a young age and competed in fencing in his teens. He was first introduced to Tomiki Aikido by a friend in 1992 and practiced that art for a period of two years before heading to New Zealand to study. While in New Zealand he studied a number of martial arts, but settled on Aikido and trained in Ki society and Aikikai.
On his return to Sydney, Stefan started his training in Iwama ryu Aikido mainly under Mic Marelli.
He has been to Japan to study under Hitohira Saito in 2012 and is keen to travel there again to continue learning the rich technical legacy left by Morihei Ueshiba.
